A Little Bit Rock n' Roll

This outfit reminds me of that song with the lyrics "She's a little bit country... He's a little bit rock n' roll..." I like how the lace on the blouse softens what otherwise could be kind of a "hard" look. (I'm definitely more comfortable on the "softer" more feminine side of things).

Pink Fiesta

I love this skirt. I don't wear it very often, but when I do it makes me feel happy. There's something in it that makes me feel a teeny bit like Frida Kahlo, and how can that be bad?!

There's nothing thrifted in my ensemble today. That hasn't happened in a while!

Shirt, Express. Skirt, Boston Proper. Shoes, JCPenney. Necklace, DressBarn.

Sunny Weather

Wow! What a beautiful day! An electrician was working on my building today, so the power was out all day, and I ended up running all over town (literally - I put 200 miles on my car today!) running various errands. There just couldn't have been a better day for it - the sky was clear and it was 70 degrees. Lovely.

Boot Love

The new boots I bought on Ebay just arrived. I love them so! (Sorry for the photos being so overbright today. I thought my photos have been too dark lately, so I messed with the camera, and well... it's still a work in progress :)

A Night at the Symphony

Mr. Not-in-Pajamas and I went to the symphony tonight. It was wonderful! This is what I decided to wear (after ironing four different dresses and trying on what seemed like half of my closet). People watching was interesting... I saw someone in jean shorts - at the symphony. Seriously.

Shirt, Max Mara (purchased at Marshalls). Skirt, Thrifted. Shoes, BCBG

How Does One Drum in a Skirt?

So you might not know it but in my spare time I practice for my future career as a rock legend (and in case this whole writing thing doesn't work out I have something to fall back on). I recently discovered, thanks to the addition of Rock Band 2 into our household, that I am a pretty darn good drummer. The only down side I discovered is that it's difficult to drum in a skirt and maintain your -ahem- dignity.

Outfit Details:
Shirt, H&M. Skirt, Gifted. Boots, Nine West. Scarf, dug out of the back of my closet - can't remember where I acquired it.

This is my impression of Tommy Lee

She's Crafty

We still have workers in our loft, and I've been too embarrassed to take photos of myself while they're here - lol. It was stormy and overcast yesterday, so taking photos outside wasn't an option, but maybe today when Mr. Not-in-Pajamas and I go to lunch I'll take the camera along and show you what I'm wearing. For now though, I'd like to share with you a project I've been working on. It's a tea towel made from deconstructed t-shirts that I bought at a thrift store - it's a green project! I got the instructions for this project from the wonderful book by Natalie Chanin, Alabama Stitch Book. Check out her wonderful site here - there's even a kit to make tea towels similar to the ones I made.
Here's the finished piece:

And here is the next towel I'm creating - same stencil, just different colors. After this I think I may try creating a shawl or a skirt.

Dark Side of the Moon

Today we have what we refer to in KC as good sleeping weather. It's been raining lightly on and off since about 4AM, yet there is a warm breeze coming through the windows. So lovely.

Outfit details:
Shirt, belt, tank and skirt, all thrifted!! (I'd tell you the makers, but I'm too lazy to pull everything off to check the tags). Shoes, Payless.

Botanical Inspiration

So, I'm having a bit of a wardrobe malfunction in some of my pictures today- sorry for the gratuitous bra strap. Today's layered color scheme was inspired by a beautiful Easter orchid I picked up at Home Depot (where one often finds themselves, it seems, after moving).

Oh! I'm working on several sewing projects which I am looking forward to sharing with you very soon.

Outfit Details:
Shirt and tank (thrifted), The Gap. Pants, Limited. Shoes, Ebay. Earrings, Gifted.

Out of a Catalog

I purchased most of the pieces of this outfit straight out of a catalog. I don't wear it very often, but a sunny spring day in the low 70's seemed just the perfect reason to drag it out of the closet. It's a little dressy for my planned outings today - thrift store, fabric store, art store, lunch - but oh well. At least it's pretty and comfortable.

Outfit details:
Vest, linen pants and necklace, Boston Proper. Tank and shoes, JCPenney.

Hit the Courts

Gorgeous weather makes me think of spring-y colors: light greens, creams, yellows, pale pinks and lavenders. Today I feel like I'm channeling just a teeny bit of tennis instructor... Wanna go work on your serve?

Outfit Details:
Sweater/Shirt (thrifted) Faded Glory. Skirt, The Limited. Shoes, Payless.
