Daydreamer

I picked up this great skirt during my last thrifting trip, then washed it, hung it up in my closet, and quickly forgot all about it. So it was a nice thrill to find a "new" skirt as I was digging for something to wear. The skirt is this great black brocade that I just love.
I wore this to do my errands today - went to the hardware store and the grocery store - lol.

Mmmmm, brocade!

Craft Quandary and a Poll

I'm working on adding some decoration to some yoga pants by embroidering around the bottom of the legs and at the waistband. My first vision was to do a reverse applique technique, where after stitching out the shapes I cut out the middle of the black fabric to reveal blue fabric underneath. But now that I have the stitching done I am having second thoughts. What do you think? Should I go ahead and cut out the fabric to reveal the blue, or should I is the stitching enough?

These are the pants as they are right now:
And this is an example of the reverse applique technique, only for the pants the colors would be black and blue, with white thread:
What should I do with these yoga pants?
Go ahead and do the reverse applique - the blue and black will look nice.
Don't do the reverse applique - the white stitching is enough all by itself.
Other - I'll tell you in the comments.

What I Wore: Yesterday

Here's what I wore yesterday while getting my hair cut from the wonderful and talented Oz at Roca Salon, and while having lunch with a new friend. This shirt has quickly become a favorite. I think this is the 3rd time I've worn it since acquiring it three weeks ago.

No Excuses

I admit it: I've been a bad blogger. Mr. Not-in-Pajamas has been out of town all week and I have been living in my yoga clothes and new beloved "nerd glasses" (think Liz Lemon glasses for those of you who love 30 Rock). I am also much in need of a haircut, which I will be receiving from the beloved Oz at Roca tomorrow. So, bear with me, friends. I'll be back soon.

In the meantime, the poll from last week is split right down the middle, with half of you saying you don't mind repeats at all, and the other half saying repeats are fine as long as the outfit has one new element in it. Thank you to everyone who voted. I really appreciate your input!

A Quandary

I've been pretty lazy the last couple of weeks with my blogging. I've been wearing a lot of the same outfits that I have already showcased, partly because I've really liked some of those outfits, and partly because it can be easier to reach in and grab something I've already worn. However, I'm not sure if I should blog outfits that I've already showcased. So, I'd love to know your opinion, dear readers. Do you care if I show an outfit that I've already worn, or do you prefer to only see "new" combinations?

Should I post previously worn outfits?
Sure! I don't mind seeing repeats.
No way! Only show me new stuff.
Previously worn stuff is okay as long as there is some new element to the outfit.

The Rescued Dress

I rescued this dress from my Goodwill box this morning I'm glad I did, as I rather like how it goes with my black and white shoes. This was the first dress I ever bought after I moved to Kansas City. Sometimes I'm not sure about the pattern, but it sure is comfortable, and good for running errands.

Pencil Pusher

It must be the week of the pencil skirt here at ...Not In Pajamas, for here I am in another one. I think they're such a great wardrobe staple. I like that they can be either casual or dressy, and the ones I've been wearing lately are all in cotton, so they're great for warmer weather.

How cute are these buttons!!

Like Friday, Only Different

I know today's outfit looks quite a bit like what I wore on Friday, and the shoes are the same, (though I had originally wanted to wear my new pink ones, but the color didn't match), but the skirt is different. You know how I love pencil skirts, so when I found a few at the thrift store in white and tan I nabbed 'em!

Thrift Store Hero... With Stars in Her Eyes

Sorry again for my absence this week - I've been working hard to clean up after the drywall installation, and am happy to say that I am finally feeling a bit more moved in (thanks to stashing a bunch of boxes into our new storage area).

I did some thrifting this week with fantastic results: 8 skirts, 8 shirts, and 1 dress all for only 34 dollars! Here are two of my recent finds:

Made By Me

Here is a dress that I created. I started it several years ago, but didn't finish it before I moved to Kansas City and my sewing machine went into storage. Now that we're in the new place it's back out and in use. First thing I did was to finish this dress. I was so excited to finally put it on.... until I realized the dress was too small! Oh well. Looks like seeing it finished on a hanger is the closest I'll get to wearing this little gem. It's too bad. Didn't it turn out to be cute?

Sorry I haven't been blogging this week - They've been building a storage / furnace room in our loft, and our place has been covered in plastic. Hopefully I'll be back with outfit photos tomorrow.

New Haircut

I went to the wonderfully talented Oz at Roca Salon yesterday and got a haircut. I went shorter on the bangs, and let the back go a little longer. I really like the results. What do you think?
