Mr. Not In Pajamas and I went out for a date night tonight at one of our favorite local restaurants. We ate waaaay too much food, but it was so good. I found this gorgeous dress at the thrift store, and was so excited to wear it tonight. Too bad it's been rainy all day, and so my hair is a frizzy mess.

New Booties

I have been loving all the little ankle booties coming out for fall... so much so that I nabbed four pairs of them yesterday! Here is one of them... love the little buckles!

Wearing All the White I Can

I guess that old adage about not wearing white after Labor Day isn't considered a rule anymore, but I still find myself feeling like I want to wear all the white I can before the big cut off. I guess I worry that some people might not know that the no-white rule no longer applies and so I still feel weird about wearing white after September (which is bad, because it's one of my favorite colors). Then I realize that I worry too much about what other people think... but now I'm getting off topic. Anyhow, here is my white ensemble, which I will be wearing to the fabric store, the grocery store, and to some other various errands.

The Last Days of Summer

I'm soaking up the last of the summer sun, yet still enjoying the first chance in months to pull out some stockings. I'm going out for lunch and shopping with a dear friend today, then off to yoga class this evening.

Preview of Fall

The weather is already turning cooler here in Midwestopia, and so I have been on the lookout for sweaters and other appropriate clothing as I go thrifting these days. I found this lovely blue sweater, but it was missing some buttons. I thought with a little TLC it could be really pretty again, and so I added some nice pearl buttons... here are the results:

Crafted Yoga Pants

Thanks to the unanimous votes I received from my question a couple of weeks back about what to do with my yoga pants, here is the finished creation, crafted by me. 

Inspiration Showcase: Kasmira and What I Wore Today

I'd like to start a new segment showcasing other fashion blogs that inspire me. For my first inspiration showcase I'd like to turn the spotlight on the beautiful Kasmira and her wonderful blog What I Wore Today. Kasmira's site was the first fashion blog I ever saw, and one look at Kasmira's fun, colorful style and I was hooked. Kasmira posts daily photos of her outfits for work and also includes photos of some weekend wear. She is both sophisticated and youthful, badass rockstar and feminine muse all at once (and often all in the same outfit!). She likes to mix and match, and offers many how to's and recession friendly suggestions, including how to overdye denim (not to mention  glimpses of her fabulously decorated home and well-tended garden).  What I Wore Today is truly a gold mine for lovers of fashion and definitely worth an addition to your frequently visited blogs. 

Thriftapalooza

I went thrifting yesterday with my good friend Becky and found some wonderful additions to my wardrobe. This shirt and skirt combo are just two pieces of loot I nabbed.

Preseason

You may not know this about me, but I LOVE football! Tonight is the first preseason game on t.v. and I am very excited. This has nothing to do with my outfit choice today, I just thought you'd like to know :)

Daydreamer

I picked up this great skirt during my last thrifting trip, then washed it, hung it up in my closet, and quickly forgot all about it. So it was a nice thrill to find a "new" skirt as I was digging for something to wear. The skirt is this great black brocade that I just love. 

I wore this to do my errands today - went to the hardware store and the grocery store - lol.

Craft Quandary and a Poll

I'm working on adding some decoration to some yoga pants by embroidering around the bottom of the legs and at the waistband. My first vision was to do a reverse applique technique, where after stitching out the shapes I cut out the middle of the black fabric to reveal blue fabric underneath. But now that I have the stitching done I am having second thoughts. What do you think? Should I go ahead and cut out the fabric to reveal the blue, or should I is the stitching enough?

And this is an example of the reverse applique technique, only for the pants the colors would be black and blue, with white thread: 

What should I do with these yoga pants?
	Go ahead and do the reverse applique - the blue and black will look nice.
	Don't do the reverse applique - the white stitching is enough all by itself.
