Made By Me

Here is a dress that I created. I started it several years ago, but didn't finish it before I moved to Kansas City and my sewing machine went into storage. Now that we're in the new place it's back out and in use. First thing I did was to finish this dress. I was so excited to finally put it on.... until I realized the dress was too small! Oh well. Looks like seeing it finished on a hanger is the closest I'll get to wearing this little gem. It's too bad. Didn't it turn out to be cute?

Sorry I haven't been blogging this week - They've been building a storage / furnace room in our loft, and our place has been covered in plastic. Hopefully I'll be back with outfit photos tomorrow.

New Haircut

I went to the wonderfully talented Oz at Roca Salon yesterday and got a haircut. I went shorter on the bangs, and let the back go a little longer. I really like the results. What do you think?

I've been learning about working with my photographs... Here's a little something I whipped up... This makes me laugh!

Mad Shoe Love!

I just found this great new store, maybe you've heard of it? It's called Plasticland.  Their prices are reasonable, and they have the cutest stuff! (no, I'm not getting a kickback for plugging them, I'm just excited to share a new store :D ). I just splurged on two new pairs of shoes. Here's what I got:

Can't wait 'till they arrive!

Lavender Blues

Sorry for the absence. I've been a bit under the weather for a few days - allergies and what-not.

Why yes, you observant girls, this is the same skirt I wore last week. I had on white shorts earlier today but got taco sauce on them, and so I changed into this skirt.

Lace and Shadows

The light was fading in and out as I took my photos this morning, giving some of these shots a moody feeling.
I just love the lace top I have on under the cardigan. Its so pretty and feminine.

And those shoes!! Some of my favorites. I've always thought of them as my 70's stewardess shoes (back when they were still called stewardesses).

Hot Leather Interior

Shorts are great for summer. They are not as great for getting into cars that have been sitting in the sun all day. You will burn your legs. And then sweat. Profusely. Ick. (bad hair day alert - this humidity is wreaking havoc on me).

90 Degrees in the Shade

Gone are the rainy days of last week. Now my slice of midwestopia is experiencing 95-100 degree temperatures (and don't forget the humidity!). Someone recently said about the weather here that going outside felt like someone was holding a hair dryer on you, and it's a pretty accurate description. Guess I'll spend some time this afternoon boxing up all my sweaters and long sleeved stuff to go into storage until fall.

Family Friday!

Not a whole lot of fashion happening today, but we spent a great afternoon hanging out with Mr. N.I.P's nephew. He's the coolest kid I know!

Shopping Frenzy

This afternoon I fell prey to one of those buy-1-get-1-1/2 off sales and ended up buying six pairs of shoes. But the final total was only $110 for all six (which makes my ression-wise mind feel better) and I saved a whopping $60! (And as today's rather sad looking flip-flops showed, I sure needed some summer shoes).

Here's the loot:

Summer Layers

I just love the pieces in this outfit, even though they're each a bit of a pain in the you-know-where. The sweater makes me look rather flat-chested (and no woman I know wants that), and the linen pants wrinkle if you even think about sitting. But I keep wearing these pieces anyway, because they are comfortable and I love the colors.

Outfit details:
Sweater, tank and belt: Thrifted. Pants, Boston Proper. Necklace, Gifted. Shoes, Shoe Carnival (i think).

Singin' In The Rain

This dress signifies one of the things I most love about thrift store shopping: it allows me to try styles that I probably never would have invested in otherwise. This is definitely not my normal style, but you know what? I love it (and especially because it was only five bucks!!), and I am such a sucker for dresses and skirts with pockets.

Why are my feet not in any of the photos today, you ask? Because I'm wearing my giant fluffy house slippers!

Outfit Details:
Dress, Volcom (thrifted). Shirt, Old Navy. Tall Socks, Target. Necklaces, 2 gifted, one from Claire's.
